Question 1

How do we remotely diagnose an inverter repair?

Accepted Answer

Working with solar inverters daily, we’ve encountered specific inverter faults based on non-functional characteristics and fault codes. PSW support can quickly determine if your inverter’s operation is repairable or if a replacement is the right solution. Rest assured, our priority is your ideal customer outcome. We aim for repair options that are less likely to require a return within months due to a similar yet different fault caused by ageing hardware.

Question 2

What sort of inverter repairs do you perform?

Accepted Answer

Externally associated repairs include isolators and power supply factors. Internal inverter repairs are often a sign that the inverter is approaching the end of its serviceable life, and continued, unrelated repair costs could be on the horizon. Most inverters have layers of circuit boards affected by excessive heat during the energy conversion process. Over time, the heat compromises the integrity of the delicate electrical components, which can lead to a domino effect of failures in a short period of time towards the end of the inverter’s lifespan. A Bathtub curve effect helps determine the end of serviceable life for inverter technology.

Question 3

Why are certain repairs more expensive than replacements?

Accepted Answer

Most circuitry is unique to a specific brand. When manufacturers discontinue a particular inverter model, the component is often made redundant by new technology. Manufacturers usually keep a limited stock of older components for warranty and service-related issues. However, these components are rarely warehoused in Australia. Manufacturers will seek to recover the cost of maintaining component integrity over time, warehousing, and freight by delivering a relatively expensive component by the time it arrives.

Question 4

What is the wait time for an Inverter repair/replacement?

Accepted Answer

Usually within 1 to 2 weeks, depending on your preferred date (business days). As one of Perth’s few inverter manufacturer warranty agents, seasonal variances exist. Non-peak periods: 1 to 2 weeks. Surge periods: 2 to 4 weeks.

Question 5

Will there be any additional costs on the day?

Accepted Answer

We can only guarantee this with inverter replacement options. We’ll always do our best to provide an approximate repair cost based on the information we have. However, the final price can vary depending on the nature of the issue. Therefore, we offer a fixed hourly rate + associated component costs towards inverter repairs.
